The YSR Congress party on Tuesday strongly condemned the Telugu Desam Party for misusing the Parliament to spread falsehood against former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on the alleged liquor scam during his regime.
Speaking to media, Tirupati MP Maddila Guru Moorthy said the TDP MPs, who had failed to get any tangible benefits to the state from the Centre, were misusing the time of the Lok Sabha by levelling false allegations against the YSRCP leaders.
Reacting to TDP MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu’s speech in Lok Sabha on the alleged liquor scam during the Jagan government, Guru Moorthy said the MP had never mentioned about the charges against chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the skill development case, though the ED and IT had unearthed a big scam in it.
“Chandrababu Naidu has no say at the Centre though he is trying to fix his adversaries in some case or the other,” he alleged.
He said the TDP was trying to fix former minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy though he had nothing to do with Excise Department.
“They are also trying to involve Raj Kasireddy and P Mithun Reddy in the case and are bringing bad name to police department,” he alleged.
The YSRCP MP said in fact, after Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power, he had closed down 43,000 belt shops and reduced the liquor sale hours.
“In such a scenario, who will bribe and whom,” he asked.
He pointed out that the YSRCP did not give permission to any of defaulters nor had it given permission for any liquor brands.
“It was Chandarbabu Naidu who had given permission to all the brands in the market but TDP has been spreading canards against YSRCP,” the YSRCP leader said.
“Instead of raising issues like Polavaram, Vizag Steel Plant and other state issues, the Narsaraopet MP has been raising issues to please Chandrbabu Naidu,” he criticised.
