The Andhra Pradesh Assembly has been abuzz with controversy over the cost incurred for Rushikonda Palace.
While the Telugu Desam Party claimed that the construction cost was Rs 500 crore, official records clearly state the figure as Rs 250 crore — a fact well known to the government exchequer.
The same clarification was provided by the YSRCP through its official handle on X today.
This raises an important question- how can TDP make such blatant claims in the Assembly, much to the shock and amusement of the public?
It is essential to understand that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not construct the palace for personal use. It remains a government bungalow, and every Chief Minister in power holds the discretion to decide its utilization.
If the alliance government believes it to be a wasteful expenditure, then a counter-question arises for the TDP-led group - why push for the reconstruction of the High Court and Assembly in Amaravati?
These buildings were already constructed under Chandrababu Naidu's administration between 2014 and 2019. Now, at a time when the state struggles with financial distress and relies heavily on central loans, is it not a greater waste of resources to rebuild them?
The hypocrisy is evident; when Chandrababu Naidu builds, it is considered "iconic," but when Jagan builds, it is labeled "wasteful spending for personal use." What an irony!
The same trend is visible in Telangana, where the BRS falsely alleged that the Revanth Reddy government is spending Rs 200 crore on the Miss World event, whereas the actual expenditure stands at just Rs 27 crore.
Why resort to misinformation instead of presenting facts? Is this merely an attempt to mislead the public by shouting baseless accusations?
Political parties, whether in power or opposition, must maintain decorum, uphold truth, and remain accountable for their statements. The people deserve better than propaganda-driven politics.
