Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is facing allegations from a section of the media, claiming that he is selectively targeting film celebrities linked to rival political parties in the ongoing betting app scandal.
The names that have surfaced include actor Prakash Raj, known to be close to KCR and KTR, TV anchor Sreemukhi, who campaigned for BRS, and Shyamala, a supporter of YSRCP. Also mentioned are actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati, who reportedly share ties with KTR.
The dilemma, however, is twofold. If these celebrities are not summoned, critics may argue that the government is only acting against smaller YouTubers and lesser-known figures while letting high-profile cine personalities go unscathed. On the other hand, if they are questioned, allegations of political vendetta arise.
The crucial question is whether critics can point to any Congress-affiliated celebrities involved in promoting these betting apps. If such figures exist and remain untouched, then Revanth Reddy can be questioned for bias.
Additionally, Prakash Raj, a pro-Congress personality, is well-known for his criticism of Modi and the BJP, yet critics are highlighting only his association with KCR and KTR. Why this selective portrayal? That’s a question the media must answer.
Ever since Revanth Reddy was cornered for arresting Allu Arjun, critics argue that he is against film celebrities and looks for opportunities to trouble them legally. But yes, that would be proven right if pro-Congress celebrities involved in promoting betting apps go scot-free.
