As the Donald Trump administration intensifies its crackdown on illegal immigrants, including foreign students working illegally in restaurants across the U.S., whistleblowers have become increasingly active.
Many individuals are directly tagging the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department on Twitter and other social media platforms, sharing details about foreign students working in Indian restaurants.
A whistleblower recently tagged ICE and wrote:
"Please visit MacArthur Blvd, Irving, Texas, where Indian MS students are working full-time in Indian restaurants. Almost all Indian restaurants are openly hiring these students, defying ICE regulations. Despite ICE raids, these students are still working. There are nearly 100-150 restaurants on MacArthur Blvd, Irving, Texas, employing them."
In response, another user supported the post and suggested that ICE conduct a large-scale search operation to catch illegal workers in one go.
With this wave of whistleblowing, it is becoming an increasingly difficult time for Indian students in the U.S. who rely on part-time jobs for survival.
Additionally, Indian restaurant owners, who often hire students as a cost-effective labor force, are facing serious challenges in maintaining their workforce.
