Even after losing power with a heavy margin in the last assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, there seems to be little change in the style of functioning of the YSR Congress party leadership.
Before the elections, the party leaders were complaining about the authority being wielded by party general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who was acting like second-in-command in the party.
While Jagan was totally inaccessible to many party leaders and cadre, it was Sajjala who was ruling the roost in the party and dictating terms to them. He never used to allow the party leaders to bring to the notice of Jagan the ground-level realities.
Now that the party has lost the elections six months ago, leaders like Sajjala have stepped out of the scene. But according to sources, the situation in the party has remained the same, as another senior leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has stepped into the shoes of Sajjala.
Taking advantage of his proximity with Jagan, Chevireddy is now calling shots in the party and is virtually taking control of the party activities. As a result, the party leaders are getting frustrated, as there is no way they can approach Jagan to explain the situation in the field.
The too much involvement of Chevireddy in the party activities has resulted in a lot of disgruntlements in the party leaders.
“Since he is always around Jagan, he is not allowing any other leaders to present the factual situation to the boss,” a party source said.
