Discontent brewing in TDP cadre against Naidu

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu might be under the impression that his party would return to power again after five years if he focusses on developmental works like reconstruction of Amaravati, completion of Polavaram, laying of roads and bringing big investors to the state, besides implementing some welfare schemes.

But it appears his party cadre is not interested in what Naidu wants to do for the state and for the people.

Though they still admire him as a visionary leader, they are disappointed with the way he is losing grip over the administration and his inaction against the YSR Congress party leaders who had created havoc with the state in the last five years.

In their social media posts, the TDP cadres are openly accusing him of going soft against his political rivals and remaining silent when his own party leaders are ganging up with the YSRCP leaders in looting the state. Readmore!

“No matter how much development you bring, it seems pointless if you cannot return to power. You build progress, but the next person undoes it. While you strive to uplift the state, someone else pulls it down,” a TDP supporter said in a social media post.

Expressing apprehension that Jagan might come back to power if Naidu runs his party and the government in this manner, the TDP supporter expressed dissatisfaction that despite having the opportunity to politically counter Jagan, Naidu was holding back.

“As time passes, it seems you are deliberately letting Jagan Mohan Reddy and his associates go unchecked,” he said.

“Whether this is your strategy or your son’s plan is unclear. But if this continues, it raises doubts about how long your government, even if formed again, will sustain,” he said.

The TDP activist wondered whether Naidu and Lokesh were going on the lines of BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and his son K T Rama Rao.

“Your son might never rise to the stature of a chief minister; he could become another KTR—a leader who remains in the shadows. And you risk becoming another KCR—ending your career under a cloud of discontent and controversy,” he said.

He said the people, beyond their caste, religion, and regional differences, had voted for the TDP, not just for the sake of Naidu but to ensure that such a chaotic government never returns.

“But in the past six months, they see no significant action from you to address this situation,” he lamented and pointed out that the middle class who voted for Naidu now feel he was compromising with those responsible for Jagan’s anarchy.

“If there are people misguiding you, the time has come to distance yourself from them. The cadre believes in you, but they also want to see the decisive leader who once brought Andhra Pradesh to the pinnacle of development. Bring our “Old Babu” Back,” the TDP supporter said.
