AP: BJP MLA men attack Adani staff for bribes?

If it was Kia Motors, which had become the target of former YSR Congress party MP from Hindupur Gorantla Madhav for kickbacks during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime, it is the turn of Adani Group which is facing pressure from the present NDA leaders for bribes.

On Tuesday night, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Jammalamadugu assembly constituency in YSR district C Adinarayana Reddy’s family members allegedly attacked the staff of the Adani Group with stones at the construction site of a pumped storage power plant near Kondapuram's Raghikunta village.

According to the reports, Adinarayana Reddy’s men, including his relatives Sivanarayana Reddy and Rajeshreddy, along with their followers, also attacked the company's camp office, breaking windows and damaging vehicles and machinery, claiming the works were initiated without informing the local MLA.

They engaged in an argument with Adani representatives before pelting stones. Later, they held discussions with company representatives. There were allegations that that they had demanded kickbacks from the company. Readmore!

Representatives of the Adani Group lodged a complaint at the Tallaproddatur police station on Tuesday night. Sub-Inspector Rushikeswar Reddy confirmed that a case would be filed.

The Adani Group is constructing a pumped storage power plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW across 470 acres at Raghikunta. They had set up a camp office and started leveling the land with machinery.

It was only last week that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly reprimanded the MLA after complaints of threats and extortion from local industries.

Allegations suggest MLA’s associates are demanding money, including crores for each megawatt from the Adani power project.

Adani representatives have reportedly raised these concerns with BJP and central government leaders. It's learnt that Delhi officials are seriously considering these allegations.

The MLA, however, said his family members had only approached the site to request local employment opportunities and renting their vehicles for the project. They argue the incident escalated due to provocation by YSRCP members present at the location.
