Jr NTR’s Devara premiered on Netflix this week with high expectations, bolstered by his global success in RRR, which performed exceptionally well on OTT platforms.
However, the film's reception has been mixed, with OTT audiences showing divided opinions.
While Devara opened to record-breaking numbers in theaters, its OTT debut was more modest, garnering 2.2 million views on Netflix — a relatively low figure given Jr NTR’s international popularity.
The inclusion of Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor was intended to broaden the film's appeal.
While their presence generated initial buzz, it hasn’t yet translated into significant viewership, possibly due to the unavailability of the film's Hindi version on Netflix. Viewership could potentially increase once it becomes available.
Currently, the title of most-watched Indian film by a Tollywood actor in its debut week on Netflix belongs to Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD, followed by Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. Devara ranks third, with Guntur Kaaram in fourth.
In terms of overall South Indian film rankings on Netflix, Devara holds the sixth position.
