Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila on Thursday hailed the arrest of YSR Congress party social media activist Varra Ravindra Reddy, who allegedly posted abusive comments against the political rivals of YSRCP, including her.
Ravindra Reddy, who also hails from Pulivendula, is believed to be personal assistant of Y S Bharati, wife of YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He was arrested and let off on Tuesday night by the Kadapa police and is now said to have been arrested again on Thursday.
In a statement, Sharmila echoed the opinion of Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who often calls Jagan and his party leaders as “psychos.”
She alleged that some individuals, along with psycho-like parties, have corrupted social media.
Expressing outrage at the abusive postings on social media, Sharmila criticized the YSRCP social media activists, saying that they have forgotten human and blood relations and turned into beasts.
"They posted content without even basic decency regarding terms like 'mother' and 'sister.' They derived sadistic pleasure through obscene posts targeting women who question,” she said.
Stating that she, too, had been a victim of these social media psychos, Sharmila said they had posted defamatory and vulgar content to tarnish her reputation and dignity. Strict action should be taken against such sadistic individuals, she demanded.
“Not just me, but my mother Vijayamma and Sunitha were also subjected to these uncontrolled posts. They insulted me by questioning if I was even born to Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. They even altered my surname to derive sadistic joy,” she said.
Stating that she had filed a case against Varra Ravindra Reddy, who posted obscene content about her, the Congress leader said she would welcome the arrest of Ravindra Reddy, who made psycho-like posts.
“Such individuals, regardless of the party they belong to, should be brought to justice," Sharmila demanded.
