Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be very much disturbed with the reports from the field over the alleged corrupt practices of some of his party MLAs, especially in sand and liquor mafia activities.
Naidu recently held a meeting his party MLAs, MPs and ministers and took a serious class to them, asking them not to poke their nose into sand and liquor businesses as it would create a negative impact among the people towards the party and ultimately, it would affect the party prospects.
Yet, there has been no change in the attitude of some of the MLAs, who continue to loot public resources with the support of local police and revenue authorities. At some places, they are even hand in glove with the YSRCP leaders to make quick money.
Vexed with their attitude, Naidu is learnt to have decided to constitute a five-member committee to keep a tab on the alleged illegal activities of the MLAs and go into the complaints lodged against them.
The committee would try to first to talk to such MLAs and if they do not mend their ways, they would refer the matter to the chief minister.
“Once their dossiers reach Naidu, there is no way these MLAs can escape. The chief minister would refer serious cases to the CID or vigilance and enforcement department to take action,” sources said.
Once their illegal activities are confirmed, Naidu would not hesitate to sack them from the party and appoint alternative leadership in their place as in-charges.
“During the last meeting, Naidu identified 18 such erring MLAs. Now, the number has come down to 15 MLAs, who continue to loot the public money,” sources added.
