It's time for another political party in AP!

The stage is set for the establishment of yet another political party in Andhra Pradesh, which is already crowded with numerous political parties vying for space and trying to assert their identity.

The new political party was announced by former Congress MP from Amalapuram, G V Harsha Kumar, who has already experimented with several parties to maintain his political relevance.

Speaking at a meeting of the Mala sub-group of the Dalits in Guntur, Harsha Kumar stated that a new political party would soon be launched by consolidating various political forces that oppose the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC) reservations and the implementation of the creamy layer for reservations.

The former MP explained that he felt the need to float a new political party in light of the fact that all major parties – Telugu Desam Party (TDP), YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Jana Sena Party (JSP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – support SC categorization. Readmore!

“We will soon announce the philosophy, ideology, policies, programs, and structure of the party. We will also formulate our action plan shortly,” he said.

Harsha Kumar criticized the fact that, while the entire country opposes SC categorization, only the Telugu states are in favor of it.

"It is because of one person’s whims and fancies that the SCs across the Telugu states are being divided," he stated.

Regarding the creamy layer, the former MP argued that it would harm SC students whose parents are government employees.

"We hope that the Centre will seek a review on this issue in the Supreme Court," he added.

Harsha Kumar, who was a two-time MP from Amalapuram representing the Congress Party in 2004 and 2009, faded from the political scene after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Before the 2019 elections, he made a surprise entry into the TDP but, following its defeat, quit the party and rejoined Congress. However, he has been inactive in party activities for some time.
