Rare scenes were witnessed at NTR Ghat near the Secretariat, where followers of Junior NTR chanted "CM.. CM.. Jr NTR CM.." as he and his brother Kalyan Ram came to pay tributes on the 101st birth anniversary of legendary Telugu film industry actor and former Chief Minister, the late NT Rama Rao, on Tuesday.
Jr NTR’s followers jostled to catch a glimpse of him, but his private security guards managed to keep them at bay, allowing him and Kalyan Ram to pay their respects in the morning.
Both Jr NTR and Kalyan Ram did not respond to the chants and left the premises within a few minutes, even as the followers continued to raise slogans.
Later, film actor and TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, his sister Daggubati Purandeswari, who is also the Andhra Pradesh BJP president, and other family members arrived at NTR Ghat to pay their tributes.
They recalled the services rendered by the late NT Rama Rao to the Telugu film industry and to the state during his tenure as the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh.
