JD fears threat to life from Gali?

Retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V V Lakshminarayana on Friday made a sensational announcement that he was facing a threat to his life in the ongoing elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Lakshminarayana, who is contesting the assembly elections from Visakhapatnam (north) constituency on Jai Bharat National Party ticket, lodged a complaint with city police commissioner Ravi Shankar Ayyannar, alleging that some persons are trying to eliminate him physically.

Interestingly, the threat to his life is not from anybody in Andhra Pradesh, but from neighbouring Karnataka.

JD pointed an accusing finger at former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party again, after more than 12 years.

Lakshminarayana says Gali had developed a grouse against him, as he had arrested the mining baron in the Obulapuram mining scam long ago.

Gali had been jailed for many years and after that, he had lost his political career and faced a slump in his business.

The former CBI JD handed over certain evidences to the police, proving that he was facing threat from Gali Janardhan Reddy and his men. The police registered a case and are investigating.

He said he would also bring the threat to his life to the notice of Election Commission of India to seek proper directions to the police. He is expecting police protection during the electioneering.
