Sitting Telangana MP to jump from Cong to BJP?

If the reports doing rounds in Telangana political circles are to be believed, sitting MP from Peddapalli parliamentary constituency Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha, who defected from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi to the Congress in February, is most likely to jump into the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Venkatesh was the first BRS MP to desert the BRS and join the Congress.

He was hoping that he would be given the Congress ticket from Peddapalli again, but the party, after prolonged discussions, gave the ticket to Gaddam Vamsi Krishna, son of V6 channel owner and industrialist Gaddam Vivek, also a Congress MLA from Chennur.

Since then, Venkatesh has been sulking.

According to the latest reports, he is considering defecting to the BJP to get the party ticket from Peddapalli. However, the BJP has already selected Gomasa Srinivas for the seat and if Venkatesh defects to the BJP, Srinivas has to be dropped.

“If the BJP high command agrees to change the candidate in Peddapalli, then Venkatesh is most likely to join the BJP and contest the elections from the constituency,” sources said.

Interestingly, Venkatesh Netha originally belonged to the Congress. He entered politics in 2018 and lost the assembly elections from Chennur on the Congress ticket in the hands of Balka Suman.

Later, he joined the BRS and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Peddapalli seat and won the election with big majority.

When he realised that the BRS is not going to give him the party ticket in the coming Lok Sabha elections, he defected to the Congress in February.
