Sharmila to launch media to back up party?

It looks like Y S Sharmila, daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, is going all guns blazing to launch her new political party in Telangana.

And it appears she doesn’t want to confine her party to being one of the many parties in Telangana, but is planning to go in a big way to emerge as a potential political force in the state.

While planning a massive publicity for her party through social media, Sharmila is now said to be contemplating launch of a big media house which is very much essential to take her political philosophy strongly into the people and also to take on her political rivals.

According to sources, Sharmila is making preparatory work for her new media house, which is likely to be named as “Manassakshi” (which means, conscience), which sounds similar to “Sakshi,” the media house owned by her brother and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sources said initially, Sharmila was planning to launch only a Telugu television news channel.

She had held preliminary round of discussions with senior journalist K Ramachandra Murthy, who was the former editorial director of Sakshi and also an advisor to Jagan till recently.

Now, the latest news is that Sharmila wants to start a new Telugu newspaper as well, apart from the television channel. The modalities are being worked out and the registration process has already started, say sources.

It is likely that both the newspaper and channel will have the same name “Manassakshi” as is the case with Sakshi. It is not exactly known whether Ramachandra Murthy would head both the channel and the newspaper.
