KTR: Appreciation okay, but where are funds?

At a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party state leaders led by party president Bandi Sanjay have been taking the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government to task for the alleged inefficient administration, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre is periodically lauding the KCR government.

On Thursday, Union minister for Jal Sakthi Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was all praise for the Telangana government for ensuring 100 per cent drinking water supply to every household in the state through Mission Bhagiratha scheme.

“Now Goa and Telangana have also joined the league of 100% FHTC (functional house tap connection) states. With this, we have inched closer to ensuring India's rural households getting equipped with tap water connections. Our vision of #HarGharJal will soon be a reality. Congratulations,” Shekhawat tweeted.

TRS working president and state municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao thanked the Union minister for acknowledging the Mission Bhagiratha scheme through which drinking water is being supplied to every household.

But he also took a dig at the Centre for not releasing a single rupee for the scheme as per the recommendations of the Niti Aayog.

He pointed out that Telangana government was supplying piped drinking water to more than 54 lakh households in 70,662 villages in 652 mandals in the state.

“Shekhawat Ji, Glad that you’ve acknowledged Telangana’s achievement of 100% Functional Household Tap Connections We would be delighted if Govt of India can honour Niti Aayog recommendation & grant ₹19,000 Cr for the pioneering Mission Bhagiratha, brainchild of Hon’ble CM KCR Ji,” KTR tweeted.
