Charges against judges: SC must take up case suo motu

The YSRCP on Wednesday demanded that the Supreme Court should take up suo motu cognizance of the allegations against certain judges having links with land scam in Amaravati.

“When there were certain allegations against former President of India V V Giri, then then Supreme Court had called him for questioning. Similarly, the present Supreme Court should take up a suo motu case against some judges who were allegedly involved in land dealings in Amaravati,” YSRC MP Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose said.

He said Supreme Court and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the responsibility to respond to the allegations against judges and take action when the prestige of judiciary was being damaged because of some judges.

“We don’t know why they are silent. It is time intellectuals speak out on the allegations of corruption against some judicial officers,” the MP said.

He said there could not be different set of rules for the police, politicians, common man and judicial officers.

“Everybody is equal in the eyes of law. They might be judges, but they should work for enhancing the prestige of the judiciary. We don’t have any intention to degrade judiciary, but we only want action against anybody who , irrespective of whether they are judges or not,” Pilli said.
