Corona killing human values among the people?

It looks like the Coronavirus pandemic, that has been wreaking havoc in the entire world causing thousands of deaths every day, is also killing the human values among the people.

The other day, we have seen municipal staff of Palasa-Kasibugga in Srikakulam district towing away the dead body of a Covid-19 patient with a JCB earth mover and another body being carried in a tractor at Sompeta in the same district.

Reason: even the children and close relatives of the Covid-19 victims are refusing to perform last rites of the deceased, fearing that they, too, would contract the virus.

On Monday, there was yet another such incident of inhuman treatment to the dead body of a Coronavirus victim in Tirupati.

The municipal staff of the temple town of Tirupati used an earth mover to lift the victim’s body and dump it into the grave.

The video of the body of an old man, who died of Corona at Ruia hospital, being taken out from the ambulance using a JCB earth mover and dumped into the pit went viral and shocked everybody.

Tirupati municipal commissioner P S Girisha explained that the staff had to use the JCB to lift the body and dump it in the grave only because the body was very heavy, weighing around 175 kg and the staff were not in a position to lift it physically.

He said the employees had taken the consent of the deceased’s relatives to use the earth mover to lift the body.

Girisha however, admitted that the municipal staff should not have used the machine to dump the body in such disrespectful manner.
