Naidu Dragged To SC Over Amaravati!

Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been receiving one shock after the other from the YSR Congress party government in the form of SIT probes, CID cases and continued attacks from the YSRC leaders, received one more shock.

A petition was filed in Supreme Court on Monday alleging that Naidu had violated all the rules and norms by choosing Amaravati as the capital city during his regime as the chief minister.

The petition was filed by Republican Party of India, Andhra Pradesh unit president Borugadda Anil Kumar, who is also an advocate. He is the same person who shot into media limelight by arguing on behalf of A V Ramana Deekshitulu, who was removed from the post of Tirumala temple head priest.

Anil Kumar said after the bifurcation of combined state of Andhra Pradesh, Naidu had not followed any committee reports on the location of the capital city for residual state of AP.

“He did not take into consideration the recommendations made by Sivaramakrishnan Committee on the capital city,” he said.

He further argued that the then chief minister had also ignored the directions of the National Green Tribunal and chosen Amaravati as the capital region between Vijayawada and Guntur for his own selfish reasons.

The Supreme Court admitted the petition and heard the arguments of the petitioner. However, it asked Anil Kumar to approach the state high court first before coming to the Supreme Court.
