After ‘Sye Raa’, director Surender Reddy’s stature as a director has grown though the film was not a profitable venture as many distributors had lost money due to high costs involved in purchasing the rights.
It proved that he can handle a period story and VFX-loaded film. He has already proved that he is good at commercial moviemaking with films like “Kick” and “Racegurram”. However, he is also facing finding the right story for his next movie.
Surender Reddy first approached Prabhas after “Sye Raa”. Prabhas too evinced interest but he wanted a bounded script from Surender Reddy.
Later, he planned an action thriller on the lines of “Born Identity” with Varun Tej but it has now been dropped off. He has finally got a nod from Allu Arjun.
Surender Reddy has decided to wait for Bunny to complete Sukumar’s project. This is likely to be launched after Dussera this year.
