The special court for CBI cases in Hyderabad continues to adopt a tough stand against YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy with regard to his alleged quid pro quo cases being investigated by the CBI.
On Friday, the court dismissed Jagan’s petition seeking postponement of hearing on Enforcement Directorate cases till the completion of trial in the CBI cases.
Last week, the chief minister filed a petition requesting that the hearing on ED cases of moneyl laundering against him be postponed till the trial into the CBI charge sheets are completed.
However, the ED authorities argued that their cases were closely linked to the CBI cases and hence, they should be heard simultaneously. The court agreed with the ED and dismissed Jagan’s petition.
The court also turned down another petition of Jagan requesting that five charge sheets be clubbed for hearing. The court said it would hear each charge sheet separately.
The only solace for Jagan was that the court granted one-time exemption for him from making personal appearance in the court on Friday.
The court deferred his plea seeking permission for representation of his co-accused for trial in the ED case in his absence to January 24.
All the other accused in the case were present in the court today. Prominent among them were Telangana minister Sabita Indra Reddy, YSR Congress MP V Vijaya Sai Reddy and Andhra Pradesh former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao.
