Naidu takes U-turn on English, too!

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, known for his frequent change in his stands on various issues, has once again taken a U-turn. This time on introduction of English medium in schools by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

On Thursday, Naidu clarified that he had never opposed the English medium, but was only suggesting that both English and Telugu mediums are essential for the students.

This was completely against his statements he has been making for the last few days, saying his party would launch an agitation if the Jagan government did not revoke its decision.

“So, Naidu has once again the U-turn. He is now claiming that he was the one who had introduced English medium in the curriculum and Jagan had opposed his decision when he was in the opposition. His life is full of U-turns,” Minister for transport and I&PR Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) said.

He wondered whether Naidu was losing his mind completely out of fear that he would lose the reins of his party.

“Naidu’s son Lokesh is also following his father in taking U-turns. Till yesterday, Lokesh was claiming that Telugu medium was essential and now tweeting that he studied only in English,” Nani ridiculed.

YSRC leader Lakshmi Parvati said NTR had stood for Telugu pride and it was Chandrababu Naidu who allowed the division of the Telugu speaking states.

“The chief minister is giving a new direction to the education policy by introducing English medium in schools so that the children of even the weaker sections and the down-trodden could get quality education and get good job opportunities. Chandrababu and his son do not have the moral right to speak about Telugu,” she said.
