Naidu slams meagre budget allocation for Amaravati

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh's Leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday slammed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for a meagre allocation of Rs 500 crore for development of capital city Amaravati in the state budget for 2019-20.

Reacting to the budget presented in Assembly on Friday, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief wondered what Jagan Reddy will build with this allocation for capital city and Rs 250 crore for the Kadapa steel plant.

Naidu, whose government had embarked on development of Amaravati in 2016 and launched various works as part of his vision to build it as one of the best cities in the world, came down heavily on the maiden budget of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government.

In a series of tweets, he said Jagan Reddy created hopes among people by making all sorts of promises but had now belied their hopes. Readmore!

"The budget shows how worst will be the coming days of Mr Jagan's rule," he remarked.

"When you give a word you should be capable to fulfill it. YSRCP government neither has the capability nor the sincerity," he said referring to restrictions announced for implementation of Amma Vodi scheme.

"When we were giving unemployment allowance to 5 lakh people, they said the state has 1.72 crore unemployed and asked what will happen to them. Why there is nothing for unemployed in this budget. Mr Jagan should tell what will he give to 1.72 crore unemployed," said Naidu.
