Naidu Should Know, Hyd Is Common Capital

Hyderabad is the common capital for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as per the AP Reorganisation Act 2014. This city would continue to be the common capital of both the states till 2024 June 1.

After the appointed day, Hyderabad would be the capital of Telangana and ceases to be the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

This is the law position and the new capital for Andhra Pradesh should have the approval of the Parliament, either before June 1, 2024 or on that day.

Though Chandrababu Naidu declared Amaravati as the capital of residuary Andhra Pradesh in 2015, he never made any attempt to get the Parliament’s approval for the same.

It was only after his defeat in the 2019 general elections, the TDP leaders made hue and cry and got Amaravati included in the political map of Andhra Pradesh, published by the Central government.

This is what the law says and that was what Minister Botsa Satyanarayana said in his interactions with the media.

Surprisingly, TDP leaders K Atchannaidu and Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary are ridiculing Botsa for his statement.

The TDP leaders who came out of Hyderabad overnight after being caught in the vote for note case, have neither developed a capital city for the state nor got it approved by the Parliament, despite being in power for five years after the bifurcation.

The TDP leaders spent time in digital works and real estate plans rather than taking up any constructive work.

They should know that Hyderabad is the capital for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as per the Act and until unless Parliament notifies, Hyderabad remains the capital till June 1, 2024.
