Naidu Effect: Yet Another Senior Quits Cong

The Congress party in Andhra Pradesh is already down in the dumps after its debacle in the 2014 general elections.

While many of the party seniors have deserted the party to join various other parties, it is left with only a few seniors who have been loyal to the party because of its ideological strength.

But with Congress president Rahul Gandhi joining hands with Telugu Desam Party president and AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the pretext of dethroning the BJP government at the Centre, even those who are left with the party are very much disgruntled.

All these days, they thought the Congress party had some principles, but with the party joining hands with its enemy in Andhra Pradesh, they are now saying there is no point in clinging to the party which has neither future nor ideological strength. Readmore!

While former minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar resigned from the party soon after Naidu met Rahul a couple of days ago, it was the turn of senior leader and ex-MP C Ramachandraiah to quit the Congress on Saturday.

He questioned the propriety of Rahul Gandhi in joining hands with Naidu without consulting the party seniors.

“Naidu abused the Congress party in strongest terms in the past, criticised Sonia and Rahul and even engineered protests in Guntur when Rahul came there. How can Rahul ignore Naidu’s dirty politics and shake hands with him?” he asked.

Ramachandraiah also found fault with Rahul in admitting former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy back into the party, though the latter had openly defied the Congress leadership.

Another former minister S Sailajanath is also contemplating quitting the Congress party sooner or later.
