Naidu Cries Foul, As Modi Tightens Screws

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is bearing the brunt of his enmity with the NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Centre, which had been quite liberal with Naidu till his party was part of the NDA, is now tightening screws in every aspect, whether it is releasing of funds to the state projects or approval of projects proposed by the state.

It has now been strict in asking utilization certificates for the funds released in the past for various projects.

Very recently, it forced the air force and naval teams to call off their shows as part of Visakha Utsav organized by Naidu for his own publicity. Readmore!

And in the latest instance, the Modi government imposed restrictions on the tour of Naidu’s tour to Davos in Switzerland to participate in the World Economic forum meeting.

The CMO put forth a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs, seeking permission to attend the Davos summit from 20 to 26 of January.

Naidu had proposed to lead a delegation of 14 people as he has been doing for past four years for the seven-day summit. But Centre said that he should cut down visit to four days and only five members should go to Davos.

Naidu expressed anguish over the curbs and asked his office to take up the issue with External Affairs Ministry once again.

He alleged that Centre wants to impede his trip and asserted that it was acting with vengeance towards the state in all the matters.
