Naidu calls on Radha, vows to stand by him

Making a desperate attempt to prevent former MLA and Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna from defecting to the YSR Congress party, Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu personally went to his residence on Saturday to convince him to stay back in the party.

Naidu, who called up Radha a few days ago and enquired about the threat to his life, drove to the latter’s residence in Vijaywada and held talks with him and his mother Vangaveeti Ratnakumar.

According to party sources, Radha received the TDP chief and took him into his residence, where both of them had a chat for about 20-30 minutes.

Naidu asked him to take all precautions in the wake of the recce conducted on him a few days ago and assured that he and the TDP would stand by him at all times. Readmore!

Speaking to reporters later, Naidu said it was unfortunate that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government had not taken seriously the complaint made by Radha on the recce conducted by some people at his residence.

He said the police inquiry into the complaint was far from satisfactory.

“It has been more than a week since Radha made the complaint. But so far, the police have failed to find any clues,” he said.

Naidu said he had also written a letter to the DGP saying that stringent action should be taken against the culprits as they held the recce with an intention to kill Radha.

“The former MLA clearly indicated that there is a threat to his life. I don’t understand why the police are adopting delaying tactics,” he asked.

Stating that though there evidences to show that an unknown car was moving suspiciously at Radha’s residence, the police did not take action. So far, they could not trace whose car it was. It appears the police are trying to protect the accused,” the TDP chief said.
