As expected, Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu played truant at the State Women’s Commission on Wednesday in connection with the alleged misbehaviour with commission chairperson Vasireddy Padma.
As per the notices served on them, Naidu, along with former TDP MLA Bonda Uma, was supposed to appear before Vasireddy Padma and give an explanation on their alleged highhanded behaviour with her during their visit to Vijayawada government hospital to call on the family of a rape victim.
Naturally, Vasireddy took serious note of the rejection of summons by Naidu and Bonda. Narrating how the two TDP leaders had misbehaved with her, she announced that she would take action against them as per the law.
She alleged that Naidu had no respect towards women’s commission and even women.
“They have displayed their male chauvinism in ignoring my summons,” she said and fault with the TDP leaders for giving a call to the party workers to take up protest agitations against the commission.
Interestingly, instead of Naidu and Bonda, TDP mahila wing president Vangalapudi Anitha went to the Women’s Commission and picked up argument with the police, who did not allow her inside.
Later, Anitha along with the mother of the rape victim, went into the chamber of Vasireddy Padma and explained the atrocities being perpetrated on women. She also presented a booklet to Padma, listing out the atrocities on women.
After arguments for a few minutes, Padma took the book and said she would look into it and take action.
