Naidu asks Centre to recall DGP Sawang

Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asked the Centre to recall state director general of police Gautam Sawang for colluding with the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in perpetrating attacks on the TDP offices and activists.

Naidu, who led a delegation to meet President of India Ramnath Kovind at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi, submitted a memorandum to him to this effect.

“We request you to direct the Union Government to recall the DGP of Andhra Pradesh in view of his intentional colluding with the ruling YSRCP party and eschewing his Constitutional duties and responsibilities.” Naidu said in his memorandum.

The TDP chief alleged that the ruling YSR Congress party had corrupted every state organization and attacked a section of society that opposed it.

The attacks on the TDP offices and leaders was the culmination of TDP leaders pointing out state support of drug networks.

He alleged that the attack on the TDP headquarters was carried out despite the presence of the DGP Office, the State Police Headquarters, and a battalion of the AP Special Police, violence being present within a kilometre's distance.

The police remained spectators despite prior information, this being an intentional intelligence failure.

“This is just one example that strongly indicates a deep collusion between the Director General of Police, AP, and the ruling party leaders,” he said.

He also demanded declaration of President's Rule in Andhra Pradesh by invoking Article 356 and initiate a comprehensive investigation against series of incidents occurred across Andhra Pradesh against TDP offices and leaders on October 19 through Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)

Naidu also asked the President to order an investigation into the criminal networks linked to the extensive drug hub operating in AP.
