At last, YSR Congress party leader and chairperson of AP Women’s Commission Vasireddy Padma has got a chance to take revenge on Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
On Friday, when Vasireddy went to the Vijayawada government hospital to call on the gang rape victim, she had to face a bitter experience.
Around the same time, Naidu along with the TDP leaders including former MLA Bonda Uma and spokesperson Panchumarthi Anuradha came there to call on the victim.
This led to a sort of arguments between Anuradha and Vasireddy and both the sides indulged in a wordy duel.
While Vasireddy accused the TDP leaders of trying to politicize the rape issue, the TDP leaders pulled her up for failing to provide security to women in the hospital.
In the evening, Vasireddy showed her powers. She issued summons to Naidu and Bonda Uma asking them to appear before her to give an explanation for their unruly behaviour in the hospital.
In the notice, she alleged that Naidu had come there along with his henchmen and wantonly created ruckus and tense atmosphere, making the patients panic.
She also charged Naidu with using abusive language and even outraging and insulting her modesty.
“Being a responsible person, he misbehaved with me,” she alleged.
She said the AP Women’s Commission being a statutory body has the powers of a civil court as per the Sec 14 of AP Women's Commission Act-1998 for the purpose of Section 195 of Criminal Procedure Code.
Exercising her powers, Vasireddy asked Naidu to personally attend the women’s commission office for the enquiry and giving his explanation.
Interestingly, the notice says he should appear before Vasireddy on April 27, 2022. Similar notice was given to Bonda Uma.
It remains to be seen how Naidu will take this notice.
