Naga Vamshi: 'It's Risky To Do Films With Anudeep'

Producer Naga Vamshi called for a press meet just after the first day first show of Anudeep directorial "Funky" and addressed the media.

Despite the mixed talk, where a large chunk of negative criticism was clearly visible, he was seen all smiles with bold composure.

Responding to questions, he said, “I have been saying for many weeks that we made a film with single-liners. In spite of that, netizens are commenting that it has no flow, that it looks like bits and pieces with patchy editing. When I myself said what it is much earlier, why do they write as if they made a discovery?”

From his point of view this may sound like a transparent expression, but such responses tend to irritate netizens as they see no humility. He could have conveyed the same in a milder tone. He added, “I didn’t say that I made a Sagara Sangamam.” Readmore!

He further stated, “It’s always a risk making a film with Anudeep. Sometimes it may work and sometimes it may not.”

He also mentioned that Anudeep made the film on a limited budget.

“The film has no grammar of cinema. I knew that when I made it. I definitely didn’t presume that I made a film that would be liked by reviewers. Even regular viewers are commenting technically about patchy editing,” he said.

Overall, Naga Vamshi should understand that he earlier made a good comedy like Anaganaga Oka Raju for the recent Sankranthi and could have attempted something sensible in that space again.

Watching 'Funky', many audiences and young film buffs feel they are being taken for granted.

Apart from that, Naga Vamshi would have come across as more endearing had he chosen a softer tone. He should remember that he is addressing the vast Telugu audience, not just film media personnel who may be his friends and acquaintances.
