Firebrand actor-turned-politician M Vijayashanti, who recently defected from the Congress party into Bharatiya Janata Party, said she had to quit the grand old party, as she had no scope to raise her voice in the party on any issue.
“The Congress party had virtually stifled my voice and did not allow me to speak in public. I had come from the background of participating in the Telangana movement and with that experience, I thought of disclosing several issues to disclose about the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, but I was not allowed to talk,” she said.
Vijayashanti said though the high command had given her green signal to play active role in the party and attack the corrupt practices of the TRS government in public, come Congress leaders in the state raised objection.
“Neither they spoke against the TRS nor was I allowed to speak. There were many such issues in the Congress party and hence, I had to quit the party,” she lamented.
Vijayashanti alleged that KCR had no money to run the TRS initially and he used to depend on donations.
“Even I had donated a lot of money for the party, but it was misused and siphoned off. Since KCR was running the movement, I had to keep quiet,” she said.
She said the TRS chief had become money-minded after becoming the chief minister. “Now, there is none to question the high-level corruption in the TRS,” she alleged.
