The much-anticipated meeting of megastar Chiranjeevi with YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy took place at the latter’s residence at Tadepalli on Monday afternoon.
Chiranjeevi, who flew down to Vijayawada along with his wife Surekha, came to Jagan’s residence at around 2 pm.
They were accorded warm welcome by the chief minister and his wife Bharati.
The megastar felicitated Jagan with a bouquet and shawl and congratulated him on his stupendous victory in the recent assembly elections.
He is learnt to have complimented Jagans’ efforts to cleanse the system and establish a corruption-free governance in the state.
“Other than that, no political issues came up for discussion between Chiranjeevi and Jagan. However, he appealed to the chief minister to take steps for expansion of Telugu film industry in Andhra Pradesh by offering incentives,” a source said.
The megastar invited the chief minister for a special screening of his latest film “Sye Raa” for which Jagan’s media house Sakshi had bagged the exclusive telecast rights of its pre-release event.
Jagan appreciated Chiranjeevi’s gesture and agreed to watch the film at a convenient date at the earliest.
The mega family spent over an hour with the chief minister, who hosted them lunch.
This is for the first time that Chiranjeevi had ever met Jagan personally, especially after the latter became the chief minister.
There were reports that Jagan was angry with the megastar for not attending his swearing-in ceremony despite extending a personal invitation to him.
