Megastar’s nephew Panja Vaishnav Tej’s debut movie Uppena is going to release in theaters only.
You might wonder why a reasonably small film compared to Nani’s V is waiting for theatrical release when V itself is premiering on Amazon Prime.
That is because V was able to recover its costs through digital rights as well as Hindi dubbing and satellite rights.
Uppena doesn’t have the star power to recover its extremely high costs through these avenues. The film’s budget has gone up to Rs 30 Cr including the losses incurred due to the delay in release.
OTT companies came forward to pay around Rs 12 Cr for Uppena, which means it cannot recover its costs even if it fetches decent deals for Hindi dubbing and satellite rights.
Hence, Myhtri Movie Makers are patiently waiting for the theaters to reopen so that Uppena will bring in footfalls given the buzz, it has generated with its songs and promos.
Interestingly, Vaishnav Tej’s brother Sai Dharam Tej’s upcoming film Solo Brathuke So Better is set to premiere on Zee 5.
They have already started filming the remaining portions to ensure SBSB digital premiere in October.
