Senior actor-producer and former MP Manchu Mohan Babu is all set to jump into the Bharatiya Janata Party along with his family members.
Mohan Babu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday along with his son Manchu Vishnu and daughter Manchu Lakshmi and unusually spent nearly 45 minutes with him discussing various issues concerning Andhra Pradesh.
Soon after meeting the Prime Minister, an excited Manchu Lakshmi tweeted: “Just met The DYNAMIC Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji. If only India could hear his vision clearly and purely, we would be in a greater place.”
Reports from New Delhi indicated that Modi had invited Mohan Babu and his children into the BJP. Following his advice, they would be meeting BJP national president Amit Shah later in the evening and might formally join the party.
Mohan Babu had been with the Telugu Desam Party for a long time and was also nominated to Rajya Sabha from the party in late ‘90s. However, he came out of the TDP due to differences with party president N Chandrababu Naidu. Subsequently, he stayed away from active politics.
Just before 2019 general elections, Mohan Babu along with his children joined YSR Congress party in the presence of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and even campaigned for the party.
After the elections, when Jagan came to power, Mohan Babu expected that he would get some good position in the party.
But, when Jagan became busy and was not able to give appointment to Mohan Babu, the latter appears to have felt unhappy. That could be the reason why he thought of joining the BJP, as he had better relations with the party in the past.
