Majority feel Jagan will shift capital

For the last few days, the debate over Andhra Pradesh municipal administration and urban development minister Botsa Satyanarayana’s statement over Amaravati has been raging across the state.

Now, many people seem to have come to a conclusion that the YSR Congress party government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will shift the capital from Amaravati to somewhere else.

This was evident from the response to an online survey conducted in the last one week by Greatandhra.com on the question: Will Jagan shift Andhra capital from Amaravati? The poll which began at 10 am on August 21 ended at 11.27 am on Wednesday.

Out of 10,320 readers of Greatandhra.com, who took part in the poll, as many as 5,602 people, accounting for 54.28 per cent expressed the view that Jagan is, indeed, going to shift the capital from Amaravati.

As many as 3,605 voters, accounting for 34.93 per cent of the total participants in the poll, said there is no possibility of shifting the capital from Amaravati at this stage.

Apparently, they felt it would result in huge financial loss to the state and might result in massive protests from the people.

The remaining 1112 voters (10.78 per cent) said they can’t say whether Jagan will shift the capital or not.

May be, they want to keep their fingers crossed till the chief minister makes an announcement to this effect.
