Liquor: ED conducts raids on Chevireddy, Dhanunjay

In a latest development in the multi-thousand crore liquor scam that allegedly took place during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh, officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted simultaneous searches at the residences and offices of key accused persons.

The raids targeted properties linked to prime accused Raj Kasireddy, YSRCP leader and former MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, retired IAS officer Dhanunjaya Reddy, Bharathi Cement director Balaji Govindappa, and P Krishna Mohan Reddy, who previously served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Search operations were carried out in Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Tirupati, covering both residential premises and offices of the accused.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which had earlier probed the case, reportedly established the involvement of these individuals in the alleged liquor scam involving thousands of crores of rupees. All the accused were previously arrested and are currently out on bail. Readmore!

Based on the SIT’s findings, the ED initiated proceedings under money laundering statutes. Officials had earlier recorded statements from the accused as part of the investigation.

The ongoing searches are aimed at identifying and tracing proceeds of crime and uncovering illegal assets linked to the case.

The coordinated raids indicate a deepening probe into one of the most significant financial scandals in the state.
