Even as the controversy over alleged violation of environmental norms by Amara Raja Batteries units from Chittoor district is still raging, promoter of the company Telugu Desam Party MP Galla Jayadev and his family members have been booked in yet another case.
The Chittoor police registered a land grabbing case against Jayadev and 12 others, including his mother Galla Aruna Kumari and father Galla Ramachandra Naidu, following a direction from the local court.
A farmer by name Gopi Krishna of Diguvamagam village of Tavanampalli filed a private petition in the local court alleging that the Galla family had encroached upon his land in the name of Rajanna Trust Education Society.
The fourth additional magistrate court in Chittoor, which made a preliminary inquiry into the petition, asked the police to register a case against the accused. Accordingly, the police registered a First Information Report the Galla family under various sections of the IPC.
The TDP MP has bene facing several cases filed by the YSR Congress party government for the last couple of years.
Apart from taking back 250 acres of land out of 483 acres allotted to Amara Raja Infra Private Ltd by the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy government in the past, the government has also ordered closure of Amara Raja Batteries units on the pretext of violation of environmental norms.
This led to the Galla family contemplating shifting of the battery units to Tamil Nadu a few months ago. However, there have been no further steps in this regard till date.
The Jagan government also sought to take back 28 acres of land allotted to Galla Foods at Tenapalli and Peta Agraharam villages of Putalapattu mandal in Chittoor district in 201, as it failed to develop a research and development unit in food sector.
A resident of Nallagattupalli village of Putalapattu mandal in Chittoor district, Gali Purushothama Naidu, filed the case seeking high court direction to the state to take over the land. The case is still pending in the high court.
