Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president and former minister K T Rama Rao, along with all his party MLAs, including his cousin and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao and other senior leaders, is leaving for New Delhi on Monday evening, raising many eyebrows in political circles.
According to party sources, this is the first time that KTR is going to Delhi with so many party leaders. It is believed they are planning to give a grand reception to KTR’s sister and BRS MLC, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who is expected to be released from jail on bail on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court, which concluded its hearing on Kavitha’s bail petition, has reserved its judgment and is likely to deliver it on Tuesday. Party leaders are preparing to accord her a rousing reception once she is released from jail.
Alternatively, if Kavitha does not get any relief from the Supreme Court, the BRS leaders, led by KTR and Harish Rao, are likely to stage a dharna in New Delhi, alleging harassment by the Central agencies in stalling her bail, sources said.
There is also speculation that KTR might use this opportunity to meet with top BJP leaders, along with the party MLAs, to negotiate a potential alliance with the saffron party.
Telangana Congress president and chief minister A Revanth Reddy has already alleged that the BRS might merge with the BJP or extend support to the NDA.
In return, BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao could become a governor of a state, while KTR could receive a Rajya Sabha nomination and a cabinet berth at the center.
It will be interesting to see what KTR plans to do and what actions the MLAs will take in New Delhi over the next two days.
