Kothapalli back to Jagan fold!

From TDP to Praja Rajyam Party to Congress to YSR Congress party to TDP – this has been the political journey of former minister and prominent Kapu leader Kothapalli Subbarayudu.

On Sunday, Subbarayudu made yet another somersault. He resigned from the Telugu Desam Party and joined the YSR Congress party once again. He met party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and made a formal return to the YSRC.

Ever since he was denied the assembly ticket from Narasapuram assembly constituency by TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Subbarayudu has been keeping away from party activities. He even quit the Kapu Corporation chairman post.

He was in two minds – whether to join the YSRC or Jana Sena Party, but finally chose the YSRC, after he realized that Jagan party has fair chances of coming to power. Though he won’t be able to get any MLA ticket at present, Jagan has apparently promised him some key position once he comes to power. Readmore!

Kothapalli is a classic example of TDP leaders who are making hay while the sun shines. The defections of senior leaders into the YSRC of late have picked up though there is no possibility of getting the party tickets at this stage. But they have realized that the YSRC is going to come to power and so, they want to have the early bird advantage by joining the party well in advance.

“If we join the YSRC after it comes to power, we will be branded as selfish politicians. Moreover, we will be lagging behind the others who have been with the party for several years. So, it is better to join the YSRC before it comes to power,” a senior leader said.

In any case, these leaders won’t show any hesitation in coming back to the TDP, if the latter comes to power!
