KCR meeting with Stalin not fruitful?

The much-hyped meeting between Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M K Stalin is understood to have failed to yield any results.

While TRS sources said the meeting which lasted over an hour and a half went on well in a cordial manner, a curt statement from the DMK simply said: “Party president MK Stalin had a courtesy meeting with Telangana CM K Chandrasekar Rao at his residence.”

According to sources in Chennai, the DMK chief did not evince much interest in the proposal made by KCR for formation of a federal front with all regional parties to form the next government at the Centre.

Stalin reportedly told KCR categorically that his party would not be in a position to come out of the Congress alliance. Moreover, it was DMK which proposed the name of Rahul Gandhi for the Prime Minister post. Readmore!

Interestingly, DMK chief tried to persuade the Telangana chief minister to join the Congress alliance and help Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister. This has not gone down well with KCR, it is learnt.

However, the TRS chief proposed that let all the regional parties form a federal front and extend support to the government formation from outside, irrespective of who will form the government.

He reminded that many other parties like TRS had fought against the Congress in the elections.

Stalin, however, said his party was firm on its anti-BJP stand and so, there is no question of any front that supported the BJP. He will join hands with other parties only if the coalition comprises the Congress.
