BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha's residence in Banjara Hills has been witnessing hectic political activity of late, with scores of BRS leaders, including ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and zilla parishad chairpersons, making a beeline to meet her.
This has sparked political intrigue in BRS circles, questioning why party leaders are rushing to meet Kavitha, who currently holds no prominent position in the party or the government.
Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is currently serving as an MLC representing Nizamabad district.
Moreover, Kavitha has maintained a low profile for the past year since her name surfaced in the Delhi liquor scam case in August 2022. She underwent investigations by the CBI and ED until March this year but managed to avoid arrest.
Suddenly, Kavitha has begun holding meetings with leaders at her residence.
Minister Koppula Eshwar, former Legislative Assembly speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, MLAs Shakeel, Bigala Ganesh Gupta, Dr Sanjay Kumar, Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao, MLC L Ramana, and Peddapalli Zilla Parishad chairman Putta Madhu were among those who met Kavitha at her residence.
The details of their meetings have not been made public, but gossip in BRS circles suggests that Kavitha is uncertain about whether to contest the upcoming Assembly polls in December this year from any constituency in undivided Karimnagar district or to run for the Lok Sabha polls from the Nizamabad seat, which she previously represented from 2014 to 2019 but lost to BJP's Dharapuri Aravind in 2019.
Reportedly, Kavitha is keen on entering the Telangana Legislative Assembly this time and is considering contesting from either the Jagtial or Manthani constituency.
She is said to be gathering feedback from senior leaders before making a decision. However, this has raised doubts about whether KCR and KTR will allow her to contest the Assembly polls.
Kavitha's supporters dismiss such speculations, arguing that without KCR's and KTR's permission, ministers, MLAs, and MLCs would not dare to meet Kavitha and discuss these matters.
