Most Telugu films are released on OTT platforms within three to four weeks after their theatrical release.
However, the producers of Prabhas' "Kalki 2898 AD" reached an agreement with Amazon Prime for an eight-week exclusivity period in theaters.
According to the agreement, Amazon Prime can only stream the film after it has been in theaters for eight weeks.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, "Kalki 2898 AD" became one of the all-time biggest hits, grossing over Rs 1000 crore globally.
The film will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime starting August 23rd. Amazon paid a substantial amount for the streaming rights and is able to set a date that maximizes viewership.
The film features prominent stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in main roles, along with Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur in cameo appearances, giving it significant potential on the OTT platform.
