Kalatapasvi K Viswanath laid to rest

Renowned Telugu film director K Viswanath, recipient of the Padma Shri award, was buried at Panjagutta Smashana Vatika in Banjar Hills, Hyderabad. 

He died at 92 due to age-related issues. 

S S Rajamouli, Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, Kamal Haasan, Mammootty, and A R Rahman expressed their condolences on social media. Later, Rajamouli attended his last rites with composer M M Keeravani.

Telangana's Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his condolences, calling Viswanath a rare and talented director. He also shared a personal memory of discussing movies, music, and literature with the filmmaker.  Readmore!

Viswanath received numerous awards, including five National Film Awards, seven Nandi Awards, 10 Filmfare Awards, the Padma Shri in 1992, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2017. 

He began his career as a sound engineer before transitioning to filmmaking and acting. Some of his notable films include Sankarabharanam, Sagara Sangamam, Swathi Muthyam, Swarna Kamalam, and Sargam.

Viswanath is survived by his wife and three children.
