Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had been completely beleaguered following the humiliating defeat in the recent assembly elections, is said to regaining his confidence gradually.

Having been in power for 14 years in different terms, Naidu knows in and out of the state administration.

So, he is closely watching how the bureaucracy has started calling shots in the present government headed by YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He reportedly told the party leaders in private conversations that Jagan has been very much overconfident right from the day one of assuming power, as he had got the huge mandate in the elections.

“Jagan has been under the impression that he has got a grip over the administration and every IAS officer has come under his control. There is also little resistance from the party leaders to his diktats at present, as he had brought the party to power singlehandedly. This has given him huge confidence that nobody can raise any head against him,” Naidu analysed.

He told the TDP leaders that this very overconfidence would turn out to be negative to Jagan in the long run and he will continue to make mistake after mistake which nobody would be able to point out.

He cited the examples of Jagan’s hasty decisions with regard to power purchase agreements, demolition of Praja Vedika and proposal to appoint a judicial commission to examine tender process etc.

“They are sure to bounce back on Jagan. But because of his aggressive approach and overconfidence, he will not go slow but will take more such decisions. There have been reports that the IAS officers are already surprised over this hasty decisions,” Naidu told the party leaders, adding that the more Jagan makes the mistakes, the more will be the positive atmosphere for the TDP.
