Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is said to be in a state of confusion over whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supporting him or his arch rival N Chandrababu Naidu, who is also known to be arch rival of Modi.
Few developments over the past one week at Delhi-level are learnt to be the reason for this confusion.
Jagan is trying hard to book Naidu in PPAs scam (power purchase agreements) as YSRCP government collected solid proofs to nail Naidu for purchasing power at 'excess rates' from private power plants when Naidu was CM and in return Naidu received huge kickbacks.
Jagan even appointed inquiry committee to dig Naidu's PPA scam. Jagan has decided to cancel all the PPAs that were entered during Naidu's regime.
But all of a sudden, Naidu got support from unexpected quarters. The NDA government came to the rescue of Naidu by writing letters to Jagan against cancelling PPAs.
First it was power secretary last week who cautioned Jagan against cancellation of PPAs saying that it will affect power sector in the country and investment climate in AP.
As this was not enough, union power minister dashed off similar letter to Jagan two days ago cautioning him against cancelling PPAs.
When YSRCP MP Vijaya Sai Reddy raised a question in Rajya Sabha yesterday over corruption in Polavaram project during TDP regime, the union irrigation minister made it clear that there was no corruption whatsover.
The Centre's stand is giving boost to Naidu who is accusing Jagan of trying to implicate him in false cases.
TDP leaders argue that Centre's stand is enough proof to show that there were no scams during TDP regime and Jagan is only trying to take revenge on Naidu by filing false cases against him.
Jagan is learnt to be unhappy at NDA government for helping Naidu and causing embarrassment for him.
