Jagan to give clarity on Amaravati today!

After keeping silent for about three weeks following the high court judgement upholding Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government is all set to come up with a clarification on what it is going to do in the coming days.

The state assembly is going to discuss the issue of decentralised administration through formation of three capitals on Thursday afternoon.

Speaker Tammineni Seetharam has allowed a supplementary agenda to discuss the issue thoroughly.

According to sources, the members of the state assembly would discuss the powers of judiciary vis-à-vis state legislature and what the next course of action of the state government would be, rather than making any direct comments on the high court verdict. Readmore!

After the members discuss the issue, chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to make a statement on the three capitals issue – he would disclose whether the government would move the Supreme Court challenging the high court verdict or reintroduce the three capitals’ bill directly.

Interestingly, the TDP members wouldn’t be there in the assembly, as they are all suspended from the House for the rest of the budget session, which is going to conclude on Friday.

For the last few days, state municipal administration minister Botsa Satyanarayana has been saying that the government is committed to the three capitals’ issue and that it would definitely bring in fresh legislation on the same.

However, it is not clear whether the Jagan government will do it in the present session itself or wait for the next session, or will take a call, depending on the outcome in the Supreme Court on the special leave petition to be filed by the government.
