Jagan Gets Call From Delhi: What's Up?

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is most likely to go to New Delhi once again on Wednesday, if reports doing rounds in the party circles are to be believed.

According to these reports, Jagan received a call from the top bosses in the NDA government on Tuesday afternoon, asking him to make it convenient to come to Delhi by Wednesday afternoon.

Accordingly, Jagan has reportedly asked his CMO officials to reschedule all his programmes on Wednesday. It is not exactly known who called him to Delhi and whom he would be meeting, but there are indications that he might meet Union home minister Amit Shah to discuss some important issues.

The exact agenda of the meeting is not clear, but as usual, the CMO will release a routine press release about the points to be raised by Jagan at the meetings like Visakhpatnam Steel Plant privatisation issue, Polavaram project funding, Special Category Status, release of balance amount pertaining to revenue deficit, approval to Disha Act and of course, three capitals issue. But the call to Jagan to come to Delhi, at a time when the BJP leaders are busy with the electioneering in four states and a Union Territory was definitely a big surprise for political pundits. “Unless it is very important, they wouldn’t have called him to Delhi,” sources said.

This led to the speculations that the Jagan’s visit would be entirely for political reasons. Maybe, the NDA bosses would put forth the proposal before Jagan once again about the YSR Congress party joining the Central government. Maybe, they would consider his request for granting special category status to AP, albeit in a different form, to appease Jagan.

It remains to be seen how the things will turn out in the coming days.
