'Jaanu' Casts Its Shadow On 'Pink'!

For the first time in his career, popular producer Dil Raju made his first remake film “Jaanu.”

Since this emotional love story was a big hit in Tamil, he took the risk of making in again in Telugu hoping that the story would appeal to the Telugu audiences.

He was pretty confident that Jaanu, released on Valentine’s Day, would definitely click at the box office.

Since the film has popular names like Samantha and Sharwanand, Dil Raju did not hesitate to spend more than what was budgeted initially. As a result, the cost of production shot up from Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore. Readmore!

However, Jaanu bombed at the box office, as it appealed to only a limited audience, unlike his other films which generally attract all types of audiences. So, the remake film totally backfired on Dil Raju.

Now, Jaanu’s poor show in the theatres has cast its shadow on another remake, being produced by Dil Raju.

This is a remake of Bollywood superhit film “Pink” which starred superstar Amitabh Bhachan and in Telugu, his role is being done by power star Pawan Kalyan.

But the talk in the trade is whether the “Pink” remake will be a success at the box office.

Reason: the storyline of Pink appeals to the limited audiences and despite Pawan is doing the lead role, the buyers are apprehensive whether it would fetch any revenues.

Moreover, the producers are investing not less than Rs 100 crore and if it does not do good business to that extent, it would virtually sink them in losses.

Trade analysts say it is not so easy for the remake of “Pink” to do business in the market, because most of the urban audiences had already seen Pink and moreover, Pawan does not suit to such serious roles.
