India’s two leading IT firms by revenue, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys, along with global tech consultants such as Accenture, are providing training and skilling modules on ChatGPT and similar AI technologies for beginners. This move comes amid reports that generative AI models like ChatGPT may disrupt Indian IT firms and their access to talent.
TCS and Infosys will be adding generative AI-themed courses to help their employees become familiar with the technology and gain skills to handle operations where such AI is used. Accenture is also in the process of adding similar courses to its learning platform.
The training modules will help employees write composable codes, and experts believe that generative AI models could democratize access to a wider pool of talent, potentially driving a new source of disruption.
However, there are also concerns about the limitations of generative AI models, such as their weakness in logical processing, lag time in getting answers, and the potential for being misused for malwares or biased information.
